Our Ambassadors

Claudia Carver

I am an instrument-rated commercial pilot and flight instructor actively pursuing a career in aviation. I also serve on the board of the Women in Aviation North Texas Chapter as the Social Media Chair, supporting the chapter’s digital presence and outreach. I am passionate about increasing visibility for women in aviation and inspiring the next generation. In my free time, I enjoy filming aviation content and walking my dog, Piper, who is named after my favorite training aircraft.

Becca Sewell

I began my aviation journey at 17 when I learned that my community college had an aviation program. Despite not knowing any other pilots or even never having set foot in a plane before, I was determined to become a pilot. Since that time, I graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Aviation Pilot Training from Southwestern Illinois College and a Bachelor’s in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I worked through my ratings at Ideal Aviation, a flight school in the Saint Louis area, and worked there for three years as the Office Manager and a CFI/CFII.

In 2022, Alaska called and I packed up my things to flight instruct in Palmer, even serving as the Chief CFI at my school for a time. I received my Seaplane add-on as well as Multi-Engine Instructor. Now, I work as a Medevac Second-in-Command for Aero Air where I fly the King Air B200 and Learjet 45 in Fairbanks for LifeMed Alaska. My goal in aviation is to help foster a more diverse industry, specifically by encouraging more women to join! I am using my title as Miss Matsu Valley and my ties with Women with Wings to do just that! The aviation community is one of the best that I’ve experienced and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

Irene Lopez

I am currently a dispatcher at a 121 and a CFI/II. I love being part of WWW because it offers inspiration and motivation. It is amazing to have such a solid community, I love seeing all the success stories and count with support on the challenging moments.

I have always been very passionate about Aviation. I love to help, motivate and support Women. Remember, never let your doubts or fears take over your dreams.

Dianne Escalona

I am currently a flight attendant at United Airlines and a private pilot preparing for my instrument check ride. I go to school at UND in Phoenix. I hope to accomplish all my ratings up to CFII at UND and I enjoy being a Women with Wings ambassador because of all the amazing women I get to network and connect with. It’s inspiring to be part of a community of strong women who are all working towards the same goal of increasing women pilots in the flight deck.

Seoyeon Kim

Hey girls! My name is Seoyeon Kim. I go by Kimmy. I’m currently working as a CFII at American Flyers. I have my bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. I studied Aviation flight science and Aviation management and operations. Currently, my goal is to get into the regional airlines. I tutor Math as a hobby outside of work. I’m excited to meet new girls who pursue similar goals.

Sophie Murukas

My name is Sophie Murukas and I am a private pilot about to take my checkride for my instrument rating! I have loved getting to be involved in the aviation world and the many different ways I get to do that, like working at the local airport in my town. I would love to work for the airlines one day, but I am open to any and all opportunities aviation throws my way!

Tanya Rao

I am a CFI/CFII with experience in aviation operations, and I’m passionate about supporting and mentoring aspiring pilots. Being a Women With Wings ambassador allows me to connect with incredible women who inspire and uplift one another while working toward increasing the presence of women pilots in the cockpit.

Lauren Werner

Hi everyone I’m Lauren! I am currently an instrument rated private pilot working on my commercial license. I also have my advanced ground instructor license! In between building my hours, I teach a private pilot ground school course at my local airport. I really enjoy teaching new students and sharing the passion I have for aviation! When I started my flight training, I only knew one other woman in aviation. Now, I know sooo many! It was hard in the beginning with nobody to share my experiences with, but now I have such an amazing community of women surrounding me, and I want all female aviators to feel the same way! I’m so grateful to be an ambassador for women with wings and to have a platform to show girls that they can do anything they want! I am blessed to be part of the aviation world and believe that we should put in what we want to get out of it!

Jordan Diaz

Hey everyone! My name is Jordan Diaz and I fly helicopters and airplanes! I started my aviation journey in 2019 at Utah State University then transferred to Southern Utah University in 2020. I received my airplane ppl at USU and have all the way up to my CFII in helicopters from SUU. I didn’t have any idea what I wanted to do in my life when I graduated high school but after 2 years of studying engineering I found aviation. Aviation for me was the most freeing and terrifying decision I’ve ever made but I’ve never regretted it a day in my life. I switched to flying helicopters because of how involved it was, I felt completely in control of my aircraft which was again both the best and most scary feeling in the world that I wouldn’t trade for anything! I’m not sure where the future will take me but if I had one bit of advice for someone getting into this field I’d say that you have to learn to forgive yourself because you will make so many mistakes in this journey, but mistakes lead to learning, not failures!

Katie Coyle

Hi! I’m Irish, training in south-west Florida. I have goal of becoming a captain on a G650 and I can’t wait to achieve it! Looking forward to getting to know you all and seeing you in the skies!

Torii Waisanen

I’m an instrument-rated commercial pilot currently pursuing my CFI and CFII certifications in Daytona Beach, Florida, with the ultimate goal of flying for the airlines. I earned my degree in Aviation Management, which has given me a strong foundation in both the operational and business sides of the industry.
My journey in aviation has included hands-on experience beyond the cockpit. I worked as a ramp agent for Piedmont Airlines and as ground personnel for Alexandria Aviation, where I developed a deep appreciation for the teamwork and coordination that keep aviation running safely and efficiently.
I currently serve as the Social Media Chair for the Women in Aviation International Daytona Beach Chapter, where I promote our mission, engage with the community, and help get others excited about aviation. I’m especially passionate about supporting and uplifting women in the industry, reminding them that they are not alone and that there is a strong, encouraging community behind them.
I love getting involved in aviation in any way I can—whether that’s flying, mentoring, or connecting with others who share the same passion. For me, aviation isn’t just a career path; it’s a community I’m proud to be part of and contribute to every day.

Steph Smith

My name is Steph Smith, and I’m a UK CAA Part-66 Category B1.1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer working for Virgin Atlantic with type ratings on the Boeing 787, Airbus A400M and Airbus A350. I hold a First Class BEng (Hons) in Aircraft Engineering from Kingston University.

My journey into aviation started with gliding in 1999, and I soloed on my 16th birthday in 2004. That early experience sparked a lifelong passion for both flying and engineering. I completed my PPL(A) in 2021 and now mostly fly taildraggers, holding IMC, night and sailplane tow ratings.

I have a particular love for vintage aircraft, having owned a Ka6CR glider and now a Rearwin Skyranger 175.

As a STEM ambassador, I’m passionate about sharing the opportunities aviation offers and encouraging more young people, especially girls and women, to see that a career in this industry is absolutely within their reach. ✈️
